if you want to start freelancing photography, and don’t have a lot of money for equipment. my first choice would be nature and then cars.
i checked out some of those cameras, and they were the max, if not more, of what i wanted to spend. anything for $100-$300?
well i guess i’ll hold off on this photography thing. cause i guess i dont have enough money to start with.

kodak
Nikon F5 with the lens of your choice would be outright awesome for someone starting out. High quality camera that will not break the budget.
Addendum:
$300!! That won’t even pay for your website and yellow page ad.
If you are that limited you should probably look into the Nikon N90s and a 50mm F/1.8
a nikon D80 would be good for you
it’s cheap but good enough to keep even if you turn profesional
they come in a package with 2 lenses and from what i have seen these two lenses supplied are VR these days.
vibration reduction which is very good!
in the future you can always upgrade your camera body
goodluck and when you get a camera learn to shoot in manua! :)
**additional—————
you want to spend $100-300??
when you become a profesional a decent lens will cost you over $1500, that is a lens without a camera.
in all honesty i would suggest you just save up until you can afford a cheap DSLR like a nikon d40 (but note that this camera probably isn’t great enough to go pro with)
perhaps in the meantime you can buy a film slr? a nikon f80?
and a photography book to gain some knowledge on photography as you are saving.
a good book for you would be ‘understanding exposure’ by bryan peterson. it is easy to understand and will teach you what photography involves
i have a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT!
amazingg :) but if u want better pictures
with any camera get photoshop! :)
canon 1d is the best which most pro’s use, of course they are expensive, go for anything with around 10Megapix as these will easily print up to A3 size, anything else would be a waste, canon & nikon are probably the best. ive always had canon & wouldn’t buy anything else
Not a Kodak. Kodak is known for FILM, not cameras.
Go with a simple Nikon or Cannon SLR. Nikon D60. Cannon Rebel.
Film and Digitial are both good. I’m sure you’ll go with digital because of it’s populiarity though.
funny – freelance with budget of $300!!!
Consider increasing your budget
If you are really on a budget and want the best quality for the money, check out the P&S Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 which has more features than most pro DSLRs that require auxiliary lenses not even equal to the single initial full-range lense that comes with the FZ28. It is reviewed at:
http://www.steves-digicams.com/2008_reviews/panasonic_fz28.html
It just came out on November 4, 2008.
It’s an all-in-one 10.1 megapixel DSLR camera which includes (i) built-in image stabilization; (ii) HDTV quality video [Quicktime]; (iii) a 18x zoom [27 - 486 mm (35mm equiv.)] “Leica” lense for nature photography; (iv) up to 0.39 inch macro option; (v) up to 6400 ASA; (vi) takes up to 380 pictures per 120 min. battery charge; (vii) has a “burst speed” of 13 fps; and sells new for $270 at amazon.com.
Here’s an actual handheld picture of the moon:
