Dome camera! Very good quality!
I got a Canon PowerShot SX110 IS for Christmas and I LOVE it!
It really takes fantastic pictures. I believe it was around $250, and worth every penny.
cannon is one of the best brands. . i was going to give you a link, but you should go to best buy or any other camera selling stores to test them out. i think you should get at least a 12 or 13 mega pixel camera :)
p.s. just because the camera’s big & flashy dose not mean its the best
It depends on what is affordable to you. When i first got into photography I started with the rebel XT, I got is used for 400, right now the XSI is also a good one you can get new for 600 if you shop around. Shop around pick up cameras, if you really want to get into photography not just snap shots I would recomend going with a DSLR.
Over anything though I would go with a canon, its my brand of choice.
Well, i fyou’re just starting out then I suggest taking a photography class or two. They ALWAYS start with one of those film cameras and it’s really great to learn with them.
I started doing photography with a camera like that, the next one was an Olympus digital camera, I was very happy with it. Pro photographers (that KNOW how to use them fully) use digital SLR cameras with multiple lenses. I don’t think you even need to know details on this stuff just yet, but you can research online.
Photography implies that the user wants full control over their exposures. This eliminates any of the “not TOO big” cameras, since the only fully adjustable digital cameras at this time are the DSLR’s.
Some of the smallest ones are like the Nikon D40 with a 18-55 mm lens.
You will have to go into a store and see which camera fits your “size” limitations.
If you do want to pursue photography, you will want to take a good traditional class in photography and for that you will need a good used 35 mm SLR and standard zoom lens. You can find those on craigslist for under $150. Once you have a class or two under your belt, you will be ready to enjoy a nice DSLR camera and use the same lens as long as you buy the same brand DSLR as your ’student’ camera
“Pursue my interest” means what? How much are you really planning to spend? Answer in additional comments.
If you are really on a budget and want the best quality for the money, check out the P&S Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 [with a Leica lense and Live View] which has more features than most pro DSLRs that require auxiliary lenses not even equal to the single initial full-range lense that comes with the FZ28. It is reviewed at:
http://www.steves-digicams.com/2008_reviews/panasonic_fz28_pg5.html
It’s an all-in-one 10.1 megapixel digital camera which includes (i) built-in image stabilization; (ii) HD720 quality video [Quicktime] which permits zooming while videoing skateboarding, action sports; (iii) a 18x zoom [27 - 486 mm (35mm equiv.)] “Leica” lense for nature and concert photography; (iv) up to 0.39 inch macro option; (v) up to 6400 ASA; (vi) takes up to 380 pictures per 120 min. battery charge; (vii) has a “burst speed” of 13 fps; and sells new for $464 at amazon.com. in the U.S.

Good luck!
